Typography & Layout Study — Yale Architecture Poster

This project is a recreation of the original Yale Architecture Poster, designed by Yve Ludwig (@Yve Ludwig) — credit to her for the inspiring original work.

Project Overview

As part of GIT 540: Cross-Media Design Solutions at ASU, under the guidance of Prof. Cameron Rennacker and Prof. Cynthia Storm, I recreated a Yale School of Architecture poster to study professional typography, hierarchy, spacing, and composition

Objective
To reverse-engineer the poster and develop a deeper understanding of layout, type relationships, and design rhythm.

Process

  • Analyzed the poster’s hierarchy, margins, and grid system.

  • Identified and matched typefaces using research tools.

  • Recreated all graphics in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen Tool.

  • Constructed the layout in Adobe InDesign with attention to alignment, spacing, and typographic precision.

Outcome

This exercise strengthened my typographic skills, attention to detail, and understanding of professional design systems.

The final product is a faithful recreation of the original poster, prepared as a print-ready PDF.
